Ambition

英文字彙中有ㄧ個我想特別跟大家分享，就是 ambition 。

am‧bi‧tion在朗文字典中的解釋為：a strong desire to achieve something。我每天接觸學生，即使是那些從不缺課的，我在她們身上都很難看到所謂的 ambition。比爾蓋茲在1973年進入Harvard University 就讀，大三那年他便休學了，為的是要大步邁向他的創業之路 (Bill Gates started studying at Harvard University in 1973 where he spent time with Paul Allen. Gates and Allen worked on a version of the programming BASIC. that was the basis from the MITS Altair. He did not go on to graduate from Harvard University as he left in his junior year to start what was to become the largest computer software company in the world; Microsoft Corporation).

反觀現在，很多人竟然以擠進公家機關為首要目標。的確是我們現今社會的一個警訊。

最近安麗盃花式撞球賽正在台灣舉行，來自中國僅16歲的陳思明，逆轉勝打敗英國撞球皇后 Allison Fisher 而陳思明的教練正是日前轉戰大陸的台灣撞球神童吳珈慶。Allison 在受訪時說道："...it's a mental game..I have the burning desire to win." 同樣的，出生於北京的陳小朋友，"從北京坐了28 小時的火車到深圳，還和母親在深圳租了房子”，就是為了要找吳珈慶練球。在Allison Fisher 和陳思明身上我們看到的共同點就是她們的 ambition 。
